PHOTOS: Sen. Schiff Tours California Farms, Calls for Greater Support for Agricultural Communities

Schiff visited the cities of Firebaugh, Salinas, Soledad, Merced County, San Jose, El Cerrito, and Antioch

California – In case you missed it, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) visited the Central Coast, the Central Valley, and Northern California last week where he met with and heard from leaders of agricultural communities and joined Californians to celebrate the Fourth of July. Schiff visited the cities of Salinas, Soledad, Firebaugh, and Merced County during his swing.

During the visit, Schiff spoke with leaders of the Monterey Farm Bureau regarding labor, water, and regulatory challenges, and he visited Tanimura & Antle, a family and employee-owned company that grows and delivers produce around the United States. Schiff then joined California State Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas for a tour of Braga Fresh Family Farms. They learned about innovative farming technologies and regenerative agriculture practices.

Following this visit, Schiff visited Del Bosque Farms and toured the San Luis Reservoir with San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority (SLDMWA). Schiff also joined Fourth of July celebrations in San Jose, El Cerrito, and Antioch.

Schiff is the first California Senator to serve on the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry in over 30 years. He has been a steadfast champion for all farmers and farm workers and is committed to fighting back against actions that hurt California’s farmers, including the impact of tariffs and the administration’s immigration policy.

Background: Sen. Schiff successfully led California members of the House Committee on Agriculture in calling on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to reverse their disastrous plan to close eight of the nine California USDA offices that were slated for termination.
