San Diego, CA — On Wednesday, August 13th, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) toured the Jacobs & Cushman Food Bank in San Diego to learn more about the Food Bank’s operations and to highlight how President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” will have devastating consequences for families and farmers through the gutting of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — known as CalFresh in California. The Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County, serving over 400,000 people each month.
During the visit, Senator Schiff joined volunteers on the assembly line to help package food, learning firsthand the operations and services taking place. He also heard directly from the Food Bank’s staff and a local farmer about how they’re already feeling the impact of the “Big, Beautiful Bill” on their operations and how these cuts will also hurt local farmers.
