Schiff secures federal funding for critical investments to support climate resiliency and infrastructure
Imperial Valley, CA –Today, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is announcing he secured more than $6 million in federal funding for critical Imperial Valley projects that support key climate resiliency and community infrastructure investments in Brawley and Imperial. The funding is part of the $254,457,366 in total federal funding Schiff delivered for California for the 2026 fiscal year, with the passage of recent funding bills.
“I’m proud to have fought for and delivered more than $6 million in federal dollars for Brawley and Imperial, part of hundreds of millions in federal investments directed to California in my first year in the U.S. Senate,” said Senator Schiff. “This funding will restore the Bombay Beach Wetlands, improve community infrastructure, and help new projects break ground, improving lives for those in the El Centro area. I’m grateful for the partnership of my colleague Senator Alex Padilla, our colleagues in the House, and community leaders who helped ensure that California receives the resources it deserves.”
Senator Schiff fought for and delivered on the following key projects to directly invest in Imperial Valley communities, including:
- More than $4 million to the Bombay Beach Wetlands Project to expand, stabilize, and restore emerging wetlands in a way that also addresses dust pollution
- $1.5 million to the City of Imperial to support the building of a new public park
- $850,000 for the Main Street Rehabilitation and Water Main Extension Project in Brawley to complete construction of a local roadway
