Fresno, CA — Over the weekend, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) visited Fresno to meet with and hear from farmers in the region amid the Trump administration’s reckless trade war.
Schiff, joined by Representative Jim Costa (D-Calif.-21), toured a blueberry farm and then joined the Fresno Farm Bureau for a discussion on agriculture and what leaders in Washington can do to meet the needs of California’s farmers.
Schiff is the first California Senator to serve on the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry in over 30 years, working to support farmers and fight back against actions that hurt California’s agricultural industry including the impact of tariffs and cuts to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Background: Sen. Schiff recently led California members of the House Committee on Agriculture in calling on the USDA and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to reverse their disastrous plan to close nine California USDA offices in Bakersfield, Blythe, Los Angeles, Madera, Mt. Shasta, Oxnard, Salinas, Woodland, and Yreka.
